“SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA THEME PARK ROUNDUP” Winter 2025 by Steve Zall and Sid Fish

Here’s what’s happening this Winter at our local theme parks:

Disneyland Resort Celebrates the Christmas Season with Holidays at the Disneyland Resort

The annual event has returned for another season of festive cheer, running through Jan. 7, 2026

Guests are invited to celebrate the most magical time of the year by revisiting cherished traditions or discovering new favorites. The celebration features popular seasonal overlays such as “it’s a small world” Holiday and Cars Land, appearances by beloved Disney characters dressed in their winter best and dazzling holiday décor that transforms every corner of the resort.

This year’s 70th Celebration is fused with seasonal spirit, as guests will spot nods to the celebration amongst winter bunting, trees and lights, including a 70th-inspired holiday wreath on Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle and enhancements on Toy Story Midway Mania! With heartwarming entertainment, themed treats and spirited experiences, the holidays shine brightly throughout The Happiest Place on Earth.

Disneyland Park

  • Each evening, as snow falls and music fills the air, more than 80,000 twinkling lights, “icicles” and snow-capped turrets transform Wintertime Enchantment at Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle into a shimmering wonder.
  • Embellished with nearly 1,800 Victorian-inspired ornaments and 100 oversized faux candles, a 60-foot-tall Christmas tree lights up Main Street, U.S.A.
  • Holiday Fun with Santa and Friends” returns to Fantasyland Theatre featuring Santa, Disney characters, classic Holiday tunes, crafts and more. He’ll also greet guests at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in Disney California Adventure park, which has been transformed into a holly, jolly, joy-filled playground.
  • Guests can wave hello to Santa Claus himself in the grand finale of “A Christmas Fantasy Parade” in Disneyland park, following a festive procession of reindeer, toy soldiers, dancing gingerbread cookies, characters and more as they make their way down Main Street, U.S.A.
  • The annual gingerbread display in Haunted Mansion Holiday* stands at approximately 13 feet and resembles a house decorated for the holidays, except this year, it hosts a whole murder of black crows with piercing red eyes that glow. At least 13 are on the table at any moment, their eyes ominously watching as guests pass by the ballroom. Four crows flick and move from their perches and on the tower while one attempts to redecorate the Christmas lights on the house – to his electrified chagrin.
  • 50,000 lights illuminate the façade of “it’s a small world” Holiday, with an additional 350,000 mini-lights brightening the trees, hedges and animal topiaries surrounding the attraction. Thousands of additional lights adorn the nearby shops and food kiosks.
  • The Plaza Point holiday shop on the corner of Main Street, U.S.A., allows guests to personalize ornaments for purchase and watch artistry in action, as cast members hand paint names on ornaments.

Disney California Adventure Park

  • Upon entering Disney California Adventure Park, guests may spot a 50-foot-tall Christmas tree with vintage-style ornaments, keeping with the theme of Buena Vista Street – which is inspired by Los Angeles as it appeared when Walt Disney arrived in the 1920s.
  • “World of Color Happiness!” debuted during the start of the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration and will run through the holidays, lighting up the 3.5 acres of Paradise Bay, as more than 1,200 fountains bring the show to life.
  • A whimsical “Snowcar” greets guests at the entrance of Cars Land in Disney California Adventure Park, before guests enter Radiator Springs to witness a spectacle of lights and holiday décor decking the streets for the “haul”-idays.
  • The live entertainment for Disney Festival of Holidays features an extensive range of genres, including R&B, soul, polka, traditional Latin, Hawaiian and more.
  • The food and beverage offerings across Disney Festival of Holidays are inspired by foods traditionally eaten during different cultural holidays, like the barbacoa tamal de res.
  • Six Festive Food Marketplaces spread across Disney Festival of Holidays feature new menu items such as the al pastor mac and cheese. Guests ordering the returning fan-favorite Holiday Duet get two half-portions of two types of macaroni and cheese.

Downtown Disney District

  • Guests can enjoy nightly “snow” on the west end of the district, adding a whimsical touch to the holiday entertainment at the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage & Lawn.
  • On weekends, the cheerful sound of holiday carolers fills the air at Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage through Dec. 28.
  • In Chip and Dale’s Ornament Trail, guests can participate in a hunt for special hidden character-themed ornaments hung on holiday trees throughout Downtown Disney District to earn a keepsake through Jan. 7, 2026.**
  • For a limited time, Downtown Disney District offers seasonal food and drinks that are packed with holiday flavors like “The Almond Brittle Cake” from Salt and Straw and the Gingerbread old fashioned at Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill and Patio for guests age 21 or older.
  • Holiday-themed products make perfect gifts for loved ones, like the Sugar Plum Body Scrub from Nectar Life, merchandise from the Mickey Mouse Family Christmas Collection at World of Disney and the Gingerbread AT-AT Walker from The LEGO Store.
  • Disney’s support of the Marine Toys for Tots program began more than 75 years ago when Walt Disney and his animators designed the original Toys for Tots logo. Starting today, and through Dec. 13, 2025, guests and cast members can join the Disney Ultimate Toy Drive supporting Toys for Tots by donating new, unwrapped toys at collection bins located inside Avengers Reserve, World of Disney and Star Wars™ Trading Post. On Dec. 13, U.S. Marines will be on hand near the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage to accept donations on behalf of the United States Marines Toys for Tots Foundation.

Hotels of the Disneyland Resort

  • Santa makes stops at all three on-property hotels, matching his attire to fit each hotel’s theme. At Pixar Place Hotel, he embraces the artistry of Pixar animation with a colorful artist smock in front of his workshop. As the Disneyland Hotel transforms into a mid-century modern wonderland, Santa greets visitors in front of wintery trees wearing a stunning red suit with swirling fuchsia details. Reflective of the hotel’s rich, craftsman-style grandeur, Santa’s style at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa features an elegant coat, embroidered vest, a custom-made bejeweled belt buckle and a stained-glass candle pin on his hat.
  • Guests can toast to the season at Great Maple in Pixar Place Hotel, which will host a holiday pop-up dining experience now through Dec. 31, 2025, with special prix fixe menus for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • Pixar Place Hotel features 31 uniquely decorated trees celebrating 10 Disney Pixar films, 1,192 custom ornaments created by the Resort Enhancement computer artists each glittered by hand using 50 pounds of glitter and enough light strands to stretch the entire Disneyland Railroad twice.
  • The Disneyland Hotel gets a winter makeover, adorned with colorful décor and sprinkled with flurries of snowflakes, creating an enchanting holiday stay for guests. It will also feature a winter castle-themed holiday confectionary crafted from fondant and different sugars.
  • Once again, a gingerbread replica of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa graces the hotel lobby this year. This year’s creation features a scene from “Mickey’s Christmas Carol.” Guests can find seasonal treats from the Great Hall Cart nearby.
  • Now through Jan 6, 2026, Storytellers Cafe in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa offers Daisy’s Holiday Pajama Party breakfast and brunch, and a new dinnertime character experience, Mickey’s Christmas Carol Feast. Guests can also dine with Goofy and his pals dressed in their merry best at Goofy’s Kitchen Celebrates the Holidays at the Disneyland Hotel.

Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration continues
Select experiences from the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration remain available for guests to enjoy throughout the fall season for a once-in-a-lifetime blend of offerings, including “Paint the Night” parade, “Tapestry of Happiness” on the facade of “it’s a small world” and “World of Color Happiness!” on select nights.

Guests will notice special touches on areas and attractions, including the 70th enhancements on Toy Story Midway Mania!, decorative accents and the colorful castle photo opportunity in the esplanade. Interactive MagicBand+ locations and the Key to Disneyland lock stations remain available.
